A203 Grade A is a nickel alloy steel specifically designed for ultra-low-temperature environments, classified as a steel plate for pressure vessels under the ASTM A203/A203M standard.
A203 Grade A Chemical Composition (%):
A203 Grade A Excellent Low-Temperature Toughness:
A203 Grade A steel plates maintain high impact toughness in environments ranging from -70°C to -101°C, with an average impact energy of ≥47 J (with individual values no lower than 70 J). When in the quenched and tempered condition, this capability extends to low-temperature operating conditions as low as -107°C.
A203 Grade A is widely utilized in the fabrication of critical equipment—such as inner shells for LNG storage tanks, main cryogenic heat exchangers, and liquid hydrogen storage and transport vessels—playing a pivotal role, particularly in polar oil and gas development, aerospace propellant storage, and superconducting magnet cooling systems.
