Material of ASTM A516 Grade 60 low alloy steel
A516 Grade 60 low alloy steel with a total of less than 5% of the alloying elements are called low alloy steels. The low alloy steel is relative to the carbon steel, is on the basis of carbon steel, in order to improve the performance of one or more steel, and the intention of joining one or several kinds of alloy steel elements.
ASTM A516 Grade 60 low alloy steel has the following advantages:
1: high strength, good plasticity and toughness. Due to the effects of alloy elements and its strength compared with the ordinary carbon steel high 25% - 50%, extending rate for 15%--23%, impact toughness at room temperature is higher than 60J/cm^2.
2:Good welding performance. Because of the low content of carbon, the element content of the alloy is little, the plasticity is good, the quenching is low, and it is not suitable for the quenching structure or crack in the welding seam.
3: ASTM A516 Grade 60 steel hot and cold pressure processing performance is good. Due to its good plasticity, deformation resistance is small, and it is not easy to crack after pressure processing.
4: good corrosion resistance. Under various atmospheric conditions than carbon steel has higher corrosion resistance.
